We operate a 24/7 rescue hotline that can be called any time day or night by anyone wanting help leaving “the life.” The hotline system that we use takes the calls that come into our hotline and re-routes them to the cell phones of women who volunteer as hotline responders. This allows for the hotline calls to be answered any time, any where by our hotline responders while at the same time keeping their personal phone numbers protected and confidential. These hotline responders are volunteers, just like you, who have been trained to answer calls, assess each situation, offer encouragement, and walk through a brief intake process. This process is to assess the caller’s situation and needs, and to make sure it is a good fit for our program or if there is another resource/organization that would better meet the need. If the caller is interested in coming into our program, our hotline responders then work to put together a Rescue Team to go pick up and transport to one of our safe homes.
Volunteer must be 21 years of age or older, and this team is for women only. The full Out of Darkness training is required in order to join the Hotline Responders Team, and volunteers must also submit an Out of Darkness volunteer application and background check. Once you have attended the training and your application has been processed, you will also be asked to do an interview with one of our staff or lead volunteers.
